Hi everyone! Welcome to a new week! If your child has not already informed you, we have welcomed a new student to our class! I am so proud of our class for showing our new friend so much kindness! If your child is snack helper this month please remember that we now have 23 students in our class.
For the next two weeks we will be doing a unit on weather. Today, we are learning about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Friday will be our 100th day of school celebration! In writing, the students just finished their first personal narrative and they turned out great! They were able to share their hard work with their reading buddies last Friday. We will be starting another narrative this week! In math, we are learning about surveys and collecting data. Today, the students will be completing their first "I like" survey. We are also working hard on word families! Ask your students if they can name some words in the -at word family! Thank you for reading with your child at home! Guided reading has been going great in class and we really appreciate Hello everyone! It was so wonderful to see all the students and their bright smiling faces this morning. After a nice long break, I think we are all refreshed and ready to start 3rd quarter! Can you believe how fast the year is going? I can't!
This week and next we our theme will be Winter. During our theme time we will be comparing and contrasting different winter stories like The Hat and The Mitten by Jan Brett. We will also be making some winter books of our own! In Writing we, will begin a unit on writing personal narratives. I will also begin writing conferences during Writers Workshop to provide each student with individualized and personalized guidance to help them become an even better writer! In Math, we are focusing on counting, quantity, and developing strategies for accurately counting a set of objects. We will also be working with addition facts during Calendar and Rocket Math. I am so pleased with the progress all of the student's are making in Guided Reading. Please continue to read with your child at home. Thank you so much for your support! Since it is 3rd quarter we have a knew special class schedule. Special classes are as follows: Monday- Music, Tuesday-Computers, Wednesday- Art, Thursday- PE, and Friday- Music. Please be sure to send your child in tenni 2nd quarter grade cards will go home on Wednesday. Please let me know if you have any questions about your child's grade card.
