When we return from our Easter break, our theme will be Spring. In writing we will be continuing with persuasive writing. In Math, we are going to be using jelly beans to help us add, subtract, and decompose numbers. Next week will be the last week for STAR reading. While I've enjoyed STAR, I'm looking forward to having our class back together for Daily 5. Even though STAR is ending, I will still be doing guided reading groups through April and into May.
What a busy couple weeks we've had! We had so many awesome visitors that taught the students about a variety of different careers!

While I've enjoyed STAR, I'm looking forward to having our class back together for Daily 5. Even though STAR is ending, I will still be doing guided reading groups through April and into May. We have had a great week learning about different careers. We've had four parents volunteer to share their jobs with us this week and are looking forward to four more next week. I will post all of my pictures next week! The kids have been working on persuasive writing and are doing great! I apologize if you get persuasive letters asking for new pets, toys, treehouses, etc., but they are ROCKING persuasive writing. We even wrote Mrs. Hambey a persuasive letter and now she's getting us some balls for the playground!
Next week we will continue with our Occupations theme. We will continue to work on persuasive writing, but will also be going back to informative writing to write about different careers. In Math we will be working on subtracting and decomposing teen numbers into a group of 10 and then some more. We have some important dates coming up: Tuesday, March 22nd- Parent Teacher Conferences Thursday, March 24th- Spring Pictures Friday, March 25th- No School For those of you who plan ahead (way ahead, but it will be here before we know it!) we are going to go on a Spring Field Trip to the ZOO on Friday, May 13th! I will be asking for chaperons so keep that day in mind! Read Across America has come to a close and we had a great week reading, writing, and learning with Dr. Seuss books! Now we're ready for Spring Break! When we return from break we will start out two week unit on occupations/community helpers. I have parents planning to come in EVERY DAY for the next two weeks to teach us about their jobs! The kids are so excited and I am so thankful for everyone's participation! Our spelling words when we return will be want, give, to, and be. We began opinion writing this week and will focus on persuasive writing when we return. In math, we will be working in addition and subtraction and doing math centers. I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Spring Break! |
