Thanks for an AMAZING year! Here is the short video I showed on the last day of school that highlights some of the year's events. Have a wonderful summer! The kiddos had a blast today at field day, even though we did get a little wet. :) I've posted some pictures at the end of this post so you can see the students in action!
Tomorrow is the last day of school! It's very bitter sweet! Our end of the year celebration will start at 11 am with a few games followed by pizza, awards, and a short video. You are welcome to join us! Your child does NOT need to bring their folder or backpack to school with them tomorrow. I sent everything home with them today, and the only thing they will have to bring home is their report card. Tomorrow we will dismiss at 12:30. Have a great evening! It's so hard to believe that we only have 6 1/2 days of school left! The last full week of school we will be wrapping up the year with some end of the year writing and other projects. I will no longer be sending home paper books for guided reading, but I will send him a note in your child's folder with the username and password of our Raz Kids account so they can have access to books and comprehension quizzes on their reading level for the rest of the year and over the summer! Please join us for our end of the year celebration on May 28th at 11. We will be having pizza and celebrating one last time with our wonderful friends! If your child has a yearbook they would like to have their friends sign, please send it in on the last day of school and we will be signing them in the morning. School will be dismissed at 12:30 on the last day of school. At the end of this post, I attached the note I sent home with the kiddos today about all of our upcoming events and other information. To view the document in a larger size click the rectangle in the bottom right corner. First of all I wanted to thank all of the parents and students for the kind, encouraging, and meaningful cards and gifts I received this week! I am so incredibly blessed to have such wonderful students greet me each day and parents who are so kind and supportive! This week has been so uplifting and I am so grateful for everything!! THANK YOU!
I cannot believe that we only have 11 1/2 days of school left. What a bitter sweet time! Next week we will wrap up a couple lose ends with our Frog theme and then begin our unit on Farms. I am currently giving the kiddos their end of the year DRA (reading test) so please continue reading with your students at home even though were in the home stretch! In Math and Writing, we are reviewing many of the things we've learned this year. The kids are enjoying Math Stations and review games as well as exploring a variety of genres in writing! Here are list of important dates: May 16th- China Presentation May 21st- Final Super Tiger Assembly May 22nd- Celebration of Learning May 26th- No School May 27th- Field Day May 28th- Half day, Last Day Celebration! (more information to come) Happy Mother's Day to all of the wonderful mothers out there! Have a wonderful weekend! This week we learned all about space including the planets, the sun, the moon, and the solar system! We made a guide based off the book If You Decide to go to the Moon that incorporated different traits of writing like word choice, conventions, and organization. In math, we have been reviewing all that we have learned this year and rotating through some math stations that the students have really enjoyed. Next week we will continue this in math and begin our Frog unit! This is always a really fun non fiction unit! We will be reviewing the three different types of writing we have learned this year (persuasive, narrative, and informative) while incorporating our frog theme.
May is a very busy month with lots of exciting things happening at school. In the special area classes, the students have been learning about China. This week we had a visit from the MSU Chinese Orchestra, and on the May 16th, Mrs. Mann has arranged for another informative China presentation. Our school wide Celebration of Learning will be on May 22 and Field Day will be on May 27. More information about these two events will be coming to you in a couple weeks. I also noticed that I made a typo in the current snack/behavior calendar. The last day of school is NOT the 29th as it currently says in your child's folder. The last day of school will be a half day on May 28th. Sorry for the confusion! Have a wonderful warm weekend! |
