I would call our first week of apples a success! Today we made applesauce as a class! Each child got to add and apple to the pot after peeling and slicing it by turning the handle of a handy dandy apple pealer/corer. Despite a slight Crock-Pot malfunction, our applesauce turned out delicious! Next week, we are looking forward to continuing our apple unit and making apple pies!
Check back in with our blog this weekend for pictures of the kiddos on our first "Costumes for Community Day." I just wanted to remind everyone that our Super Tiger Assemeby is TODAY at 2:30! Also, picture day is tomorrow (Thursday) so if you have not yet sent in your picture form, please do so as soon as possible. Friday will be our first Costumes for Community Day. Everyone in the school can bring a dollar and dress up as whatever they want to be when they grow up. All donations recieved will go to benefit the Willard Charitable Foundation. I also sent home book orders last night and those will be due October 5th. There are some wonderful fall and Halloween books in there so be sure to take a look. I also put my top 5 picks in the "Book Orders" tab on our blog.
Have a wonderful day and I hope to see some of you at our Super Tiger Assembly! WOOHOO! It worked! The Open House video is split into two parts on this page. For it to play straight through without pausing, you may have to hit play, pause it to let it load, and then hit play again. Enjoy! Welcome back after a long weekend! I am so excited to start our Apple Unit and the kids are too! Tomorrow, we will begin by making a KWL chart about apples. On this chart we will list what we already know, what we want to know, and what we learned. On Thursday of this week we are going to have an apple tasting and make a graph of our favorite apples. Friday will be a very exciting day because we will be making applesauce using fresh apples! Next week, we will be making apple pies! Thank you so much for supporting our classroom by sending in supplies!
Our first Super Tiger Assembly is going to be this Wednesday at 2:30! Parents and families are welcome! The kids will get their WOW t-shirts Wednesday morning and we will all wear them to our assembly. Every month a different students will be recognized for their achievements in the classroom. This month Blake will recieve a red paw for showing great character, Adalea will recieve a green paw for teamwork, Jackson will recieve and blue paw for academics, and Rosie will recieve a yellow paw for improvement. These students do not yet know that they are recieving these paws yet, but Way to go kids and keep up the great work! I have been brainstorming a way to get the video that was played at our Open House on our blog. I think I am going to try to break it into two seperate parts. It takes a while to create and upload the video so it may take a day or two, but be looking for it! It's hard to believe another week has passed! I want to thank all of the parents and grandparents who were able to join us at our Open House last night! I know the kids were so proud to show you all their hard work and give you a tour of their school! I tried to upload the video we had playing during Open House, but unfortunately it was too long and it could not be supported :( . I am so sorry for the disappointment!
Have a great weekend! Tonight is our Kindergarten Open House from 6 to7. I hope to see you all there!!
No school tomorrow! Enjoy the day with your precious kiddos! Our Apple Unit will start next week. Check your child's folder for the paper about what items your child will be bringing to school on Monday. Thank you so much! I know I say this nearly every post, but what a busy week!
We are still learning about the alphabet and yesterday we made a group alphabet chart on the SmartBoard. Today, the students are going to work in groups to create a BIG alphabet chart on their own by cutting pictures out of magazines. These will be displayed in the hall for parents and family to see during our Open House on Thursday. We are all still enjoying the creative ABC charts that are being sent back to school! In Math, we started our Couting books where the students have to color a given number of blocks and draw that number of pictures on that page as well. Tomorrow, we will play a math game called "Grab and Count" where the students will grab a handful of connecting cubes, count them, and record the number. Writing is going extremely well! Yesterday, we made a list of "Ideas for Writing" and the students picked a topic off of the list and wrote a story about it. The topics we listed were things we all new a lot about like school, sports, family, etc. The students have writing folders at school so if you are wondering why you have not seen any of their stories it is because they are being stored in their writing folders so I and the students can watch all the progress they are making! I will send their writings home at the end of every quarter. Don't forget our Open House is Thursday (tomorrow!) from 6-7 and there will be no school on Friday! I have also decided to send home the final note about our Apple Unit supplies TOMORROW. I waited a while to send them home because I was concerned about recieving apples to early and them going bad before our unit even began. I hope this doesn't through anybody off too bad. You will see the note tomorrow and can send the supplies on Monday. Thank you again sooo much for yo Have a wonderful day! Happy Friday everyone!
Next week, we will continue our alphabet unit. We are all really enjoying the alphabet charts that are being returned. I hope you are enjoying this activity with your child as well! Please remember to send back the Apple Time! sheets by Monday if you are willing to donate supplies. I will send home a second note with your child Monday or Tuesday to let you know for sure what we need for our apple activities. Thank you so much again for all of your support at home! I uploaded a September Newsletter under the Parent Links tab in our blog, so check it out! In the Parent Links, I am also going to add a link to a website our BASE teacher recommended to me. This site would be a great resources for parents who have access to a printer to create letter and number flashcards to work with their student at home. To create the flashcards, scroll down to popular catergories and clik on flashcards. This is not the only feature available on th I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! |
