Tomorrow will also be the Super Tiger Assembly at 2:30. At the assembly Tyler will be recognized for character, Justin will be recognized for improvement, Kayleigh will be recognized for academics, and Gabe will be recognized for great teamwork!
As a reward for our success in the Read-a-Thon last month, our class has received a dress up day in which we will be dressing up as our favorite storybook character! Tomorrow, November 30th, your child can come dressed up in a storybook character of their choice!
Tomorrow will also be the Super Tiger Assembly at 2:30. At the assembly Tyler will be recognized for character, Justin will be recognized for improvement, Kayleigh will be recognized for academics, and Gabe will be recognized for great teamwork! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with their families! The break seemed to go by fast, but Christmas is just around the corner and will be here before you know it! This week our theme is Gingerbread Men! I am excited to see the gingerbread men your children decorated with you over break! If you were unable to get them here today, just send them in as soon as you get them done. Tomorrow we will be painting gingerbread men that will be mailed to a different state and then sent back to us. We will tie in some geography to this unit by discussing where our gingerbread men traveled! This is always a very fun and exciting project and I will give you some more info on it later in the week.
In Math we will continue to work on patterns. We will be creating one-two patterns this week, figuring out what comes next, and recognizing patterns. In writing we are focusing on conventions and will be talking a lot about using correct spacing when we write. You can help us out at home by encouraging your students to use "finger spaces" between their words when they write. Have a wonderful day and it's great to be back! This is the time of year to give thanks for all of our many blessings! Check out this short video below and see what all of our students are thankful for. I know I am thankful for each and every one of them! Hello everyone! I hope you are enjoying the weekend so far! When your child gets to school on Monday they will notice that our classroom has a new look! I rearranged the tables this weekend to make to more "cooperative learning" friendly. The students will now be in groups of four with new friends! Don't forget, next week is only a two day week and our pj/movie party will be on Tuesday. We are working on letter sounds in class and every day we learn a new sound. Here is the video of our class singing a song about the Aa sound! Enjoy and have a great weekend! Hello everyone! This week we will be learning about the Pilgrims and discussing what we are thankful for. We have a lot of fun projects this week like a thankful wreath and a Thanksgiving placemat. Today we read the book "Plump and Purkey Turkey" and wrote about what we could eat instead of Turkey for Thanksgiving. In Math, we are learning about patterns. This week we will be constructing patterns and recognizing them as well.
Our class has filled up the chart of Tiger Tokens!!! For those of you who don't know, this is kind of a big deal :) The students have been working so hard all year and are given tiger tokens by other teachers and me occasionally for great behavior, acts of kinds, and for following all expectations. To fill up the chart, we had to earn 100 Tiger Tokens, AND WE DID!!! To celebrate this accomplishment, next Tuesday the 22nd, we are going to have a pajama/movie day with popcorn! The kids are so excited and I am so proud of them for all of their hard work! Don't forget, STUCO is sponsoring a family movie night tonight and Cars 2 will be showing in the gym at 5:30. Admission is $1 and popcorn and drinks will be sold for $.50 as well. I hope everyone can make it! This week is absolutely flying by and we have been really enjoying our unit on Native Americans! Yesterday, we made dreamcatchers after reading a story about their meaning. Today, we created pictograph stories on "buckskin" and we also painted a picture like Little Gopher in the book The Legend of the Indian Paintbrush. The kids have really been enjoying this unit and I will post a video summing up our unit at the end of the week!
Tomorrow will be picture retake day so if your student was not here on the original picture day or if you would just like their picture to be retaken, please send the form back for me in the morning. Don't forget, Friday is a half day AND costumes for community! For this costumes for community we will be honoring our veterans by wearing camo. If possible, send a dollar with your costume and it will be donated to a local charity. Today our class was able to enjoy a snow cone party from the PTO as a reward for reading the most minutes during the Read-a-thon last month. I'm attaching a short video with a few pictures from the celebration. Next week we will begin our Thanksgiving Unit by studying Native Americans. We will read lots of fun stories and create some exciting projects like dream catchers, paintings, and pictograph writings. Enjoy your weekend and I am looking forward to a wonderful week ahead! Hello everyone! Today we read the book Cookie's Week by Cindy Ward and Tomie dePaola and then we illustrated and retold the story ourselves. The students are very excited to share it with you, so check it out in the video below. Today I sent home a "homework" sheet with the students. They are to write the names of everyone in their house and then circle the name with the most letters. If you could get those done by tomorrow so we can talk about them in math, that would be wonderful! |
