The kids had so much fun today decorating their gingerbread cookies! Check out the video to see all the students and their delicious creations! This week our theme has been The Gingerbread Man. We are reading a variety of Gingerbread stories and comparing and contrasting each of them! Tuesday we painted the Gingerbread Man that students will mail off to a family or friend in another state or country for a visit and return to us after Christmas Break. This project will go along with a geography unit because as the Gingerbread men make their way back to our classroom we will be studying where and how far they have traveled. This is a very fun and exciting unit!
I have loved seeing all the Gingerbread boys and girls that the students and their families have decorated over Thanksgiving Break! There have been some very creative Gingerbreads! On Friday, we will be decorating gingerbread cookies! A huge thank you to all the families who donated supplies for this activity! Book orders will be going home today! Books make terrific Christmas gifts for your child. If you would like books you order to remain a surprise for your child, let me know and we will figure out a time that I can get the books to you personally instead of sending them home in your child's backpack. Have a great rest of the week! What a fun and busy week packed with Thanksgiving activities! We made Indian headbands, made a wreath of everything we are thankful for, learned about the Mayflower and recreated the ship itself! We've been learning a lot about patterns in math as well! We've been practicing composing and decomposing patterns and playing games like Break the Train.
Next week is only a two day week and we will continue with the theme of Thanksgiving and continue to discuss and write about all the things we are thankful for! Have a wonderful weekend!!! This week in Kindergarten has been very fun, exciting, and busy! We have been learning about Indians and have created pictograph writings, dream catchers, and Indian paintings! Guided reading groups have gotten off to an awesome start! Please continue to read and work with your student at home! I am already thrilled with the progress and enthusiasm of each student!
Today we had a very touching Veteran's Day assembly. On behalf of our class I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all the veterans and people currently serving in our Armed Forces. We could never show you enough gratitude for the sacrifice you and your family has made to serve and protect our country. Tomorrow we will be having a bus safety assembly. Tomorrow is also early release and we will be dismissing at 12:30. Next week we will begin learning about Pilgrims and Thanksgiving. In Math, we will be investigating and recording patterns. Reminder: Book Orders are due tomorrow! We had such a great time at our Fall Party today! I would like to say a HUGE thank you to Meshalie's mom and grandma for organizing a fun craft, a game of bowling, plus a delicious snack! Thank you Tucker's mom who brought in some face paint for the kids to enjoy between the bowling and snacks! I know the kids had a great time! Thanks to all the parents who came in to lend a helping hand! All of your help is greatly appreciated. Check back this weekend to see pictures from today's festivities! After all of the Halloween excitement, we wrapped up our week by learning about days of the week and months of the year. Today we read the book Cookies Week and then retold the stories by making pages of our very own! Check out the video at the end of this post to see the students' hard work! Next week, we will begin our Indians theme. In writing, we will be learning how to take risks as writers and stretching out words in our writing. I am also very excited to start our guided reading groups next week. Keep your eyes peeled for your student's guided reading folder. In Math we will finish up our ordering unit and begin making and continuing patterns. November book orders were sent home today! Take a look at all the great books and place your order by November 9th. Our themes for this month will be Indians, Pilgrims/Mayflower, and Thanksgiving if you would like to get your child some books that match our themes here at school. Reminder: Friday, November 9th is a half day of school. Have a WONDERFUL weekend! |
