Next week we will be learning about Penguins! We will begin informative how-to writing and write pieces like "How to Take Care of a Penguin." In Math, we will continue to review shapes and decomposing numbers using number bonds. Our daily schedule this semester has changed in order to move our Daily 5 Reading block to the afternoon so all Kindergartners can be involved in the school wide "STAR" reading program. This program allows students to move to a different classroom for guided reading instruction that is tailored to their particular level. Students are still in the process of being grouped and I will provide you with more information in the weeks to come! As for right now, your child is still in guided reading groups with me know matter what their reading level.
Monday will be our Family Reading Night. This evening will be filled with activities based around the book The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. If you did not read the book at home, don't worry, we have been reading it in class. The kids (and myself) have really been enjoying this book! I love it when the students beg me to read another chapter! They are hooked! Most likely we will not be able to finish the book before Monday, but we are at least halfway through it now. The students are really looking forward to the Family Reading Night and I hope to see everyone there!
Have a wonderful weekend!!
