For the next two weeks, our theme will be holiday related. We will be doing some fun writing activities like making a list for Santa, writing letters to Santa, and distinguishing needs from wants. In Math, we will be starting our subtraction unit. We will be playing games like One More, One Fewer and using number bonds and story problems to figure out subtraction problems.
Be expecting to see some more difficult books coming home in your child's B.E.E. Folder in the coming weeks. I was able to get all of the students' reading assessments completed for the quarter and will start sending books home on their instructional level. This means if a student tested at a 3 (or a C), then I will send home level 4 (or D) books for them to be practicing at home. Remember, these will be a bit tricky for your child at first. When reading with them focus on the strategies we are learning about at school like getting your mouth ready for the first sound, breaking the word into parts we know, using the pictures for clues, and rereading to make sure the word makes sense. Thank you so much for your support at home! The kids are so much more successful when they can practice and apply these skills outside of school.
Our class will visit the Santa Shop to buy gifts for their family on Wednesday, December 10th. Please send the list of people you would like your child to buy for with the exact amount of cash by this date.
Our Winter Party will be on December 19th from 10 to around 11. I know our room mom has lots of fun activities planned for the kiddos! Contact her if you would like to help or just swing by to enjoy the fun!
Have a wonderful weekend!
