In Math, we are looking at three demensional shapes. We've made a shape chart and explored the different shapes by matching faces. I encourage you to work with your students at home by finding things around the house and asking them what shape it is. Grab a can of corn and see if they can tell you its a cylinder, fnd a box of cereal and see if they remember that it is a rectangular prism, or while playing ball see if they know it is a sphere. Shapes are so much fun!
We have also started guided reading groups this week! Your child will be in a group with me on either Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays. On the last day of their group, they will bring their folder home and share with you the book they have been working on all week. The students are so excited about groups and so am I! I love this time of year because the students really grow as readers!
Since it is 3rd quarter we have a new specials schedule as well. On Mondays we have Computers, Tuesdays and Wednesdays Art, Thursday Music, and Friday PE. Please make sure to send your child in tennis shoes on Fridays for PE!
I hope you all have a wonderful week and I will be talking with you all soon!
