Next week is a busy week as well! It is Red Ribbon Week so there will be special day throughout the whole week. Students will get their red ribbons on Monday and if they are able to wear them all week, they will be entered into a drawing on Friday. Red Ribbon Week festivities look like this:
Tuesday- Crazy Sock Day
Wednesday- Crazy Hair Day
Thursday- Buddy Day
Friday- Hat Day
Wednesday will also be our Super Tiger Assembly. The Book Fair is going on until Thursday. You are welcome to send your child to school with money for the Book Fair and they can shop before school starts in the morning or check it out Tuesday at Parent Teacher Conferences. Friday will be our Fall Party, which we are all VERY excited about!
Among all of these exciting events, we will be engaging in lots of learning. We are going to be working on a variety of concepts by doing Candy Corn Math throughout the week. We will be measuring, adding, counting, and sorting. In Writing, we will be adding more details to our narrative writing by incorporating dialogue through speech bubbles. We will also keep going strong in Guided Reading. Keep up the great work at home with the reading that is being done. I am going to start sending comprehension worksheets home with "familiar" books that the kids have already read. Next week, we will also be starting spelling tests which will consist of 4 words and a dictation sentence each week. Two of the words will be review words and two will be new words. Our goal is that the students will be able to able there knowledge of their sight words quickly and easily when reading and writing. The words will be sent home on Monday to practice and the spelling test will be on Friday.
Reminder: The last day of Parent Teacher Conferences are on Tuesday! If I did not meet with you already, chances are I will see you on Tuesday!
Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the beautiful weather!
