In writing we are still working on being brave writers by sounding out words and creating simple sentences. Encourage your student at home to write simple sentences using their popcorn words and then sound out unknown words i.e. "I like red apples." or "My dog is silly." Not every word has to be spelled correctly! If your child spells "silly" like "sile" that is completely appropriate for kindergarten! Encourage them by saying "Yes, I hear those sounds too! Great job!"
In Math, we will continue Topic 3 which focuses on numbers 6-10. Students will be counting groups of these numbers and recording the corresponding number as well as coming up with different ways to show a number i.e. 4 and 6 make 10.
Reading groups are going great and I am already seeing so much growth. Be on the look out next week for books that will be sent home in the leveled reading pocket in their Bee Book.
