We also wrapped up the week with a book treasure from the book Eating the Alphabet. This book may be a little more tricky for the students to retell, but see how many fruits and veggies they can remember from the book and use it to stimulate some alphabet related discussion between you and your child to make that text to self connection. I will be posting the story on our blog as well under the Book Treasures Tab on our blog. I was so thrilled with last week's reflections! I can't wait to hear what the kids retell this time!
Next week, we will begin our two week Apple Unit! We will be doing some apple taste testing and graphing our favorite kind of apples, talking about the seasons of an apple tree, and even making applesauce!
In Writing next week, we will be writing our first opinion piece, working on labeling pictures, and making a KWL chart about apples. In Daily 5, all of the activities have been introduced and the I-charts have been made, so now we are on to building stamina. During this time, I will also be pulling small groups to work with students on reading skills.
In Math, we will be practicing counting and recording as we play games like Roll and Record and Build It.
